Here is the colored version of shad. original character based on
A warrior from the times long past preserved away in the deserts of sham'or, Shad observes the great plains not having stepped foot here in centuries. The beautiful blue hew given off from the radiation covers the plains and enhances their look. The sky even clears to see many of the surrounding star system all shining with their brilliance. A calm and serene scene is never peaceful, for it is a sign a great radiation storm will soon strike the land devouring any of those who cannot withstand its ferocity.
I simply love the contrast of this pic. It simply makes me smile the second I look at it. The terrifying machine of old and the beautiful blue landscape.
I think that what strikes me the most is the butterfly. Your coloring of the sky is beautiful, I like the gradual fading from greenish to a more solid blue.
The robotic design is very nice - I like that you included all the gears to show how it would actually work. It makes it a bit more believable.
But another thing that is striking, upon closer look, is the eye. So he's not completely a robot after all. There's enough "human" in him to enjoy the beauty of his surroundings, even though it's the calm before the storm.
(Erm, and you have troubles with homophones... we fly in planes, grass grows on the plain.... and I'm pretty sure that it's a calm scene.... )

Simply amazing, Shinji. The rustic colors of Shad go so very well with the cool colors of his surroundings. I love the otherworldy sky, with that streak of pink through it. That's a really nice touch. Seeing the butterflies kind of ties this world to ours with familiarity, and makes it more believable, yet retaining it's on unique beauty. You've got a great eye for detail, man. C: <3

hehe, thanks fixed the typos wrote this thing while IMing and in a chat room in about three conversations were going on at the time, and yea, grammar I PHAIL at.
Thanks for the detailed comment. I like it when others can pick up on the pictures I intended to put within the piece. I didn't know for sure if the background was going to work but it appears it has.
hehe thanks you will like the character a bit more when i start doing action scenes something about tearing his enemies in half and other excessive ways of goring that will really give him a huge and comical contrast.
Wow, thanks for the comment im glad I was able to portray each of these things in such a manner. Ill definitely be doing more pics of him. There is a whole nother very haunting side of shad that has yet to be seen. thanks again <3

This is simply fantastic - I have a thing for steampunkish and mechanical beings. The style in which you did the sky really appeals to me, and the texture differences are also nicely contrasting.
The color in this is quite nice, I agree - however, I think that it might have done you well to desaturate the background a bit, because it does take away from the subject, which is really dark. A little more brightness is a few places could make him pop! He's also leaning quite a bit - rule of thumb, foot that the weight is on should always be directly under the sternum, unless the figure is in motion
Yus!!! thank you I love to hear constructive criticism. most of the time people go that is cool and don't ever say what could make it better. I am glad you liked the style, robots and machinery are not quite my forte but thinking how would this work pretty much got me through it. the background was an afterthought, but I thought it addeda powerful level of contrast just in a expressionistic form.
Also love the points you brought up as well. See I never would have guessed about the position since I was looking more towards those legs are big and awkward lets make them more visible, avoiding the fact that when you stand like that you put all of your weight on one leg. Thanks Again!
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
